A New Way of Learning
Antioch College is a new and innovative college that offers its students a comprehensive learning program and real-life work experience. Antioch understands that real jobs require real work experience. Not everything is capable of being learned at a desk. Co-Op stands for cooperative education and is the foundation of the Antioch experience. Every couple of education terms the college provides the opportunity for students to apply for a list of Co-Op jobs. Some jobs are paid while others provide room and board. However, each one provides a unique opportunity for students to get experience in the work of their choice.
About Me
My Antioch Story
My name is Cara Stedman and I am currently in my fourth year at Antioch College. I am a high school graduate of the Dayton Regional STEM School. Before finding Antioch College, I was working towards going to college for a technological or engineering degree. When I visited Antioch, it caused me to take a leap of faith and pursue a higher education I was truly passionate about. Everything about the college was different from any other university. The self-design major and the Co-Op experience showed me that the college was truly interested in giving the students a real-world applicable education while understanding the importance of arts and humanities in world culture.
When beginning my first year, the main focus of my studies was in English and Creative writing. However, in my second year, I changed my course to pursue English and Psychology in relation to mental health.
I also have many hobbies. I enjoy photography and there is no shortage of beautiful sites to take pictures of on Antioch's Campus. In my time here, I have spent a lot of my time in jobs where I work with kids. I think that the youth have the ability to learn and will one day be responsible for the future. Warm weather and the outdoors are my favorite combination so I enjoy hiking and swimming. These are just a few of the things I do outside of school. I have a never-ending passion for new adventures.
